Canola

Maximise your yield & cut your operating costs with Sky Terra

Canola is all about timing, coverage, and looking after flowering—and that’s where Sky Terra fits in. We understand how quickly canola can move from green bud to full bloom, and how important it is to stay ahead of insects, sclerotinia and nutrition before they knock yield around.

With our ag drones, we can get across the paddock fast for fungicides, insect control and foliar feeds, laying product evenly through the canopy without knocking plants over, compacting wheel tracks, or waiting for the ground to dry out.

We also run drone-based crop monitoring to pick up stress early patchy establishment, waterlogging, nutrient issues and insect hot spots—so you can target problem areas instead of blanket guessing.

It’s a clean, low-impact way to keep your timings tight, protect flowering, and give your canola the best chance of finishing strong.

Book Your Application or Season Package

Ready to book your canola spray application? We deliver clean, even drone coverage for fungicides, insect work, and foliar nutrition—without compaction or waiting for paddocks to dry.

Field Prep to Harvest

Canola Growth Stages & Spray Passes (Simple Guide)

(Approx. 3–6 spray applications per season depending on pressure)

  • Field Preparation
    – Soil worked, moisture stored, weeds controlled.
    – Knockdown herbicides applied here (Pass 1).

  • Planting
    – Seed drilled into moisture; even establishment is key.
    – Pre-emergent herbicides often applied here (Pass 2).

  • Emergence & Early Vegetative Growth
    – Seedlings develop 2–6 leaves.
    – Early insect sprays if pressure is high (Pass 3 – optional).
    – Foliar nutrition if required.

  • Rosette Stage
    – Canola forms a flat, leafy rosette before stem elongation.
    – Fungicide for blackleg or early disease risk (Pass 4 – conditional).

  • Stem Extension (Bolting)
    – Crop stands up and begins forming buds.
    – Insect control for heliothis/aphids if present (Pass 5 – optional).

  • Flowering
    – High-demand stage; yellow bloom across the paddock.
    – Sclerotinia fungicide during early–mid flowering (Pass 6 – common).
    – A second fungicide if season is wet or high-risk (Pass 7 – optional).

  • Pod Set & Pod Fill
    – Pods form and seeds begin to fill.
    – Insect control (e.g., heliothis, aphids) if required (Pass 8 – optional).
    – Late foliar nutrition if used.

  • Ripening (Dry-Down)
    – Crop changes colour and dries down.
    – Desiccation/regrowth control (Pass 9 – optional; used in some systems).

  • Harvest
    – Direct-head or windrow harvest depending on variety and timing.
    – No spray passes here.
