Corn

Maximise your yield & cut your operating costs with Sky Terra

Corn moves fast once it gets going, and staying on top of nutrition, pests, and disease is what makes or breaks yield and that’s where Sky Terra fits in. We understand how important clean, even coverage is from early vegetative stages right through to tassel.

Our drones get across tall, thick corn stands without flattening rows or compacting soil, delivering accurate applications for foliar feeds, insect work, and fungicides when machinery can’t get between ranks especially once the canopy closes over.

We also run multispectral monitoring to pick up early stress nitrogen issues, moisture problems, pest pressure, or uneven growth so you can step in before it affects cob size and grain fill.

It’s an efficient, low-impact way to protect crop health, keep your timings sharp, and help your corn finish strong all the way to harvest.

Book Your Application or Season Package

Ready to book your corn spraying? We get across the crop fast, even once the canopy closes, helping you stay ahead of pests, disease pressure, and nutrient needs when machinery can’t get in.

Corn Growth Stages & Spray Passes (Simple Guide)

(Approx. 3–6 spray applications per season depending on pests, nutrition, and disease pressure)

  • Field Preparation
    – Soil worked, moisture stored, and weeds controlled.
    – Knockdown herbicide applied here (Pass 1).

  • Planting
    – Seed placed into warm soil for strong, even emergence.
    – Pre-emergent herbicide sometimes applied (Pass 2).

  • Emergence (VE–V3)
    – Seedlings break the surface; early leaf stages develop.
    – Early insect sprays if pressure is present (Pass 3 – optional).
    – Starter foliar nutrition if needed.

  • Vegetative Growth (V4–V12)
    – Rapid canopy development; stalk strength builds.
    – Foliar nutrition for early vigour.
    – Fungicide if disease risk is high (Pass 4 – optional).
    – Insect control if Heliothis/caterpillars appear.

  • Pre-Tassel / Tasseling (VT Stage)
    – One of the most critical stages for yield.
    – Main fungicide application to protect leaf health (Pass 5 – common).
    – Insect spray if silking pests are present.

  • Silking (R1 Stage)
    – Silks emerge; pollination begins.
    – Targeted insect control (Pass 6 – optional).

  • Grain Fill (R2–R5 Stages)
    – Kernels form and begin filling.
    – Late fungicide depending on pressure (Pass 7 – optional).
    – Nutrition in some programs.

  • Ripening (R6 Stage)
    – Grain hardens; crop dries down.
    – No spray passes here.

  • Harvest
    – Grain or silage harvested at target moisture.
    – No sprays at this stage.

Typical Total Spray Count:

3–6 applications per season
(up to 7–8 in high-pressure or wet seasons)
